As
you might expect, the cost of setting up a web site "depends" on several factors: the number
of pages, the number & kinds of graphics, etc. However, to
give you a feel for our pricing we'll explain our
guidelines.
We charge from $40 to $55 an hour for our time, depending
on the level of expertise needed. However, many
customers are leery about variable pricing, so we
do work on a flat rate for many projects. We
simply estimate the number of hours, add a margin of
error, and multiply by an hourly rate.
For
a small, static site with only a few pages (a brochure
type of site) we charge from $200 to $1,500. For a
site that includes a company brochure and a small
catalog with photographs of the products, the price will
start at $900 and rise depending on the size of the
catalog. A moderate size catalog could generate a
charge of $2,500 or more.
A
site that is interactive will, of course, cost more.
For instance, a site that has on-line order forms, a
shopping cart system, and requires encryption work (to
be able to take credit card information) will raise the
price. Sites that have search features, message
posting, forms for collecting information, and other
items that involve more than passive web pages will all
affect the amount of hours and thereby the billing.
So
you see, pricing is very involved and
"depends." But don't let all of this
intimidate you. The best course of action is to
ask us to give you a quote based on your own needs.
Incidentally, when we figure quotes we can provide
graduated quotes. For instance, we might
give a quote for setting up a brochure on the web, and a
separate quote for adding a small catalog later, all
with an eye towards eventually adding an order-taking
system much later. We're willing to work with you
in creating a web site that can grow with you as your
understanding of the web grows, as your business needs
grow, and as your budget can justify it.
